Kūpuna Pantries

From chronic health conditions to limited income, many kūpuna on Oʻahu’s West Side face barriers to accessing food they need to live healthy lives. We provide kūpuna (60 years and older) with free produce, prepared meals, and shelf-stable goods through five kūpuna pantries along the Leeward Coast. Thanks to our wonderful partners, we’re able to feed about 1,200 kūpuna a week.

What to expect at a kūpuna pantry

Upon arrival, a pantry staff member will greet you at your car window and give you a Kūpuna Pantry Form to complete. Once you return the completed form, we will give you a placard with the number of pick-up shares you will be receiving for that day. Place the placard on your car’s dashboard.

Wait until pantry staff signal you to drive forward to our food tent. Give your placard to our staff. Volunteers will then open your vehicle to load the food boxes into your car. Be sure your vehicle has enough space for about 50 pounds of food.

Frequently Asked Questions

We partner with Hawaiʻi Foodbank to supply fruits, vegetables, and shelf-stable groceries such as rice and canned beans. We purchase prepared meals from Waiʻanae High School’s Culinary Arts Program and ogo (seaweed) from the school’s Marine Science Learning Center.
We also support local farmers and businesses. We purchase fresh produce from Maʻo Organic Farms and culturally relevant foods, such as poi and laulau, from Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi, Pomai Kulolo, and Aloha ʻĀina Poi Company.
No, we also accept walk-ups.
Kūpuna who can’t physically pick up food boxes at our pantries can assign a proxy to pick up for them. Kūpuna must fill out our Kūpuna Pantry Proxy Form beforehand.
You must be 60 years or older to receive food at a kūpuna pantry.
No pre-registration is required. Simply come to one of our pantries and we’ll give you a Kūpuna Pantry Form to fill out. Once you complete the form, you’re able to receive food.
