Mauka to Makai

As families continue to recover from Hurricane Lowell, we have decided to postpone Mauka to Makai. We will let everyone know once a new date is set. Mahalo for your understanding.

ʻElepaio is excited to invite you and your ʻohana to our annual Mauka to Makai! This free, two-day event celebrates the beauty and sacredness of our ahupuaʻa. 

Day one takes place at Kaʻala Farm (Waiʻanae Valley) to learn about our Waiʻanae watershed, the moʻolelo of the space, and traditional farming practices. ʻOhana participate in cultural activities, such as kuʻi kalo, kapa making, and dryland kalo planting.

Day two is in partnership with Nā Kama Kai and starts at Pōkaʻī Bay (Neneʻu) with a small beach cleanup, followed by an array of ocean activities like stand-up paddleboarding and canoe paddling. People can visit different community booths for hands-on, cultural activities and enjoy live entertainment.

Attendees also receive free lunch and event swag on both days.
