Food Subscription Program

Have you been denied SNAP/EBT but still struggle to purchase fresh groceries? Our Food Subscription Program provides eligible households with a $250 monthly mākeke voucher for six months.

Participants can use the voucher to purchase fruits, vegetables, poi, proteins, and honey at our two farmers market locations. During the program, participants must also complete surveys and participate in monthly workshops.

Eligibility requirements

You must have a primary care provider at the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center.
You must live on the Leeward Coast of Oʻahu in one of the following zip codes: 96792, 96797, 96707, 96706.
You must have been denied SNAP/EBT for “over-income” within the past 6 months.

The head of the household will enroll in the program to receive funds for the entire household. Household is defined as all individuals that live together in one residence and purchase or prepare meals together. Multiple families under one address will go through additional verification.

What to expect during the program

Staff will contact you to verify your eligibility, explain program requirements, and complete a survey.
Schedule a time to pick up your Food Subscription Card from our office. Your card will be pre-loaded with $250. Use this card at one of our farmers’ markets to purchase fruits, vegetables, poi, proteins, and honey.

To stay enrolled in the program, you must attend three of our community workshops.

Bring your Food Subscription Card to one of our farmers markets and use it to buy eligible fruits, vegetables, poi, proteins, and honey. Simply give your card to the vendor when you’re ready to make a purchase. If you have any questions while at the market, visit our team at the market info booth.
Funds are reloaded on the 10th and 20th of each month.

Funds expire at the end of each month. They do not carry over into the next month.
No, but you can apply for our other Food is Health programs.
