Our Mission
To strengthen West Oʻahu ʻohana through Indigenous food sovereignty and access to origin-story foods— restoring people's relationship with ʻāina and food, nourishing families, and cultivating community resilience for generations to come.
What We Do
-
We provide nutritious and culturally-rich food through keiki pantries, kūpuna pantries, and community food distributions. We’re proud to offer the largest SNAP and WIC doubling program at a farmers market in Hawaiʻi.
-
We work with Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center to connect patients to healthy food. Through our Food is Health programs, eligible patients receive monthly vouchers ranging from $100-$250 to purchase qualifying local produce at our farmers markets.
-
Through community workshops and events, we share healthy recipes and stories reconnecting people to our ʻāina. We also partner with Waiʻanae High School to provide students with work-based learning opportunities.
-
We provide free crop planting and technical planting assistance, strengthening our community’s food security and preserving ʻike kūpuna (ancestral knowledge) and moʻolelo (stories).
We need your kōkua.
As a wholly owned nonprofit corporation of Waianae District Comprehensive Health and Hospital Board, Inc., we rely on grants and donations to provide for our community. With the help of our many partners, we’ve been able to distribute more than 13 million pounds of food and generate more than $15 million dollars in economic activity in Waiʻanae.
